Search on for owner of sweary Scottish parrot

A parrot who swears, whistles and dances when he wants attention has been found flying around a West Lothian garden. Sam exclaims "f***" and "s***" when he is left alone, before starting to whistle and dance in the hope someone will pay him attention.

The Timneh African grey was discovered in a garden in Netherwood Park, Livingston in West Lothian. The Scottish SPCA are now looking after him at their Edinburgh centre while they try and track down his owner.

Assistant manager Kenny Sharpe said: "Sam is a real character. Not only does he know a vast array of swear words, he also dances and whistles if he feels he's not getting enough attention. He's a very friendly boy who will jump on your shoulder or hand so it seems someone has spent quite a bit of time taming him.

"Sam doesn't have an identity ring so unfortunately we've not been able to trace his owner. Hopefully someone will recognise him and come forward so we can return this rather mischievous bird home soon."
